My girlfriend decided that it was more important to maintain her Gold Status with American Airlines than flying back from SFO together on Virgin America. Both of our flights were delayed due to rain conditions in the New York. However, my VA flight, an Airbus 319, somehow miraculously had enough fuel to travel an extra hour to land at JFK whereas AA Flight 178 departed an hour earlier but had to re-fuel at Baltimore. The best part of this is that there is not an American personnel to be found at the Arrivals Level at Terminal 8. Zero information was given out on the Flight Information Displays other than that it was ON TIME. Airport terminal designers speak of the "terminal experience", it won't matter how well the terminals are designed, if the airlines cannot find a way to be what is expected of them, air travel will continue to be nothing more than a hassle. With the TSA and their ways of running their organization, the future of American air travel and reputation look grime.
It is now 1:05am in the morning, 3 hours after the ETA, still no sight of Flight 178.
